Saginaw River Passage - September 27th

The tug Olive L. Moore and her barge, Lewis J. Kuber, arrived on the Saginaw River Thursday evening with a split cargo.  The pair stopped first at the Bay City Wirt Stone dock to drop part of their load, then continued upriver to finish unloading at the Saginaw Wirt Stone dock.  Thee Moore-Kuber were expected to be outbound Friday morning.

Saginaw River Passages - September 25th

The Walter J. McCarthy, Jr. called on the Saginaw River early Tuesday, stopping at the Consumers Energy dock in Essexville to unload coal.  Once finished, She backed from the dock and out to Light 12 in the Saginaw Bay, where she turned and headed for the lake.
Also inbound on Tuesday was the Olive L. Moore - Lewis J. Kuber, who arrived with a split load.  The pair dropped part of their cargo at the Bay Aggregates dock in Bay City, then continued upriver to finish unloading at the Buena Vista dock in Saginaw.  The Moore & Kuber were outbound late Tuesday evening.

Saginaw River Passage - September 23rd

The Stephen B. Roman was inbound on the Saginaw River early Sunday morning, headed for the Essroc Cement dock in Essexville to unload.  By Sunday evening, the Roman had finished unloading, turned in the Essexville basin and was outbound for the lake.

Saginaw River Passage - September 20th

Manitowoc arrived on the Saginaw River Thursday afternoon, calling on the Lafarge Stone Dock in Essexville to unload.  She was the first commercial delivery on the river in seven days, since she traveled upriver on the 13th to unload at the GM dock in Saginaw.

Saginaw River Traffic

Commercial shipping traffic has been slow on the Saginaw River during the month of September.  For the month to date, there have only been six vessel passages, down four from the same period last month.  For 2012, traffic had been running above last year's numbers, but with the recent slow period, the numbers have drawn even with last year, with 91 commercial passages for the year to date.
The last vessel passage on the Saginaw River was September 13th, when Manitowoc called on the GM dock in Saginaw to unload coal.

Saginaw River Passages - September 13th

Manitowoc was inbound on the Saginaw River early Thursday evening, traveling up to the GM dock in Saginaw to unload coal.  She was expected to be outbound Friday morning.

The Michigan DNR Fisheries vessel, Channel Cat, was on the Saginaw River on Thursday as well.  She joined her fellow DNR vessel, Chinook, who is also still in the area

Saginaw River Passage - September 11th

The Walter J. McCarthy, Jr. was inbound on Tuesday, calling on the Consumers Energy dock in Essexville, to unload coal.  She completed her unload by early in the evening, backed from the dock, and turned at Light 12, before heading for the lake.

Saginaw River Passages - September 8th & 9th

The tug and barge combo, Olive L. Moore - Lewis J. Kuber, were inbound on the Saginaw River Saturday evening, traveling upriver to the Lafarge Stone dock in Saginaw.  The pair completed their unload and were outbound for the lake Sunday morning.  Calumet was inbound Sunday afternoon, stopping at the Wirt Stone dock in Bay City.  She was expected to be outbound Monday morning.

Saginaw River Passages - August 28th - September 7th

Activity on the Saginaw River has been slow the past few weeks, with only two commercial passages.  The American Century called on the Consumers Energy dock in Essexville on September 9th to unload coal.  On September 6th, the Olive L. Moore - Lewis J. Kuber travelled up the Saginaw River to unload at the Burroughs dock in Zilwaukee.

The Michigan DNR Fisheries vessel, Chinook, was also on the Saginaw River on the 6th, stopping at the Essroc dock in Essexville for the evening, then heading back out into the Saginaw Bay on the morning of the 7th.

Saginaw River August Passages

Commercial vessel movements on the Saginaw River for August totalled 15 passages.  This is down 14 passages as compared to the same month in 2011.  For the year to date, there have been 85 vessel passages on the Saginaw River, four ahead of the same period last year.
