Saginaw River Passages - May 22nd

Samuel de Champlain - Innovation called on the Lafarge Cement dock in Essexville on Saturday, bringing in the first cement cargo of the season. Monday morning saw the arrival of the Olive L. Moore - Menominee on the Saginaw River. The pair traveled up to the Buena Vista dock to unload.

Saginaw River Passages - May 19th

There were four commercial vessels moving on the Saginaw River today. The Walter J. McCarthy, Jr. arrived early Friday morning, calling on the Consumers Energy dock in Essexville to unload coal. The tug Olive L. Moore, and her barge, Menominee, were inbound, headed to the upper river to unload at the Lafarge Stone Dock in Saginaw. The tug Dorothy Ann, and barge Pathfinder, were back again, this time with a split cargo for the Wirt Stone Docks in Bay City and Saginaw. Last in was H. Lee White, delivering a cargo to the Bay Aggregates dock in Bay City. All four vessels were expected to be outbound by late Friday night.

Saginaw River Passages - May 17th

The Olive L. Moore - Menominee arrived on the Saginaw River early Wednesday morning, calling on the Port Fisher/Bay Aggregates Dock to unload.  A short time later, Dorothy Ann - Pathfinder also arrived on the Saginaw River with a cargo for Bay Aggregates, but with the slip already in use.  The pair had to tie up at the Wirt Essexville Sand & Stone dock to wait.  Late Wednesday afternoon, the Moore - Menominee finished their unload and departed Bay Aggregates for the lake.  Immediately after, Dorothy Ann - Pathfinder backed into the slip and began unloading.

Saginaw River Passage - May 14th

Cuyahoga was inbound on the Saginaw River, early Sunday morning, calling on the Buena Vista dock, located just above the Zilwaukee/I-75 Bridge. She was outbound Sunday afternoon, after finishing her unload. Cuyahoga is the first vessel to travel to the upper Saginaw river this season.

Saginaw River Passage - May 4th

The tug Defiance, and her self unloading barge, Ashtabula, unloaded overnight at the Port Fisher Dock in Bay City. Thursday morning saw the pair backing out of the Saginaw River and headed for the lake.

Saginaw River Passage - May 3rd

The American Integrity arrived in the Saginaw Bay on Tuesday, anchoring out there overnight. She came in early Wednesday morning, calling on the Consumers Energy Dock in Essexville to unload coal. American Integrity then backed from the dock when finished, backing out to Light 12 in the Saginaw Bay to turn and head for the lake.

Saginaw River Report - April 2017

There were a total of three commercial vessel passages on the Saginaw River for the month of April, representing a decrease of one passage for the same month last season. Looking at past numbers, the passages were one fewer than the 5-year average of four, and five fewer than the 10-year average of 8 for the month of April.

Looking at year-to-date numbers, 2017 has had 4 commercial vessel deliveries to docks along the Saginaw River, one less than the same time period in 2016. Going back, the four passages are equal to the 5-year average, and four fewer than the 10-year average for the end of April
