Saginaw River Passage - September 24, 2026: Dorothy Ann/Pathfinder

Dorothy Ann/Pathfinder arrived on the Saginaw River, gliding to the Wirt Sand & Stone Dock in Essexville on glass smooth water this morning.  The pair passed the tugs Edward H and Megan J., who were preparing the depart the Saginaw River with all of the dredging equipment they arrived here with on July 16th to begin a dredging project.  Photos taken 9/24/26

 

Saginaw River Passage - September 23, 2026: Calumet

Wednesday saw Calumet back on the Saginaw River for her second consecutive trip, this time stopping at the Burroughs North - Essexville Dock to lighter, then heading up to Saginaw to finish unloading at the Wirt Stone Dock. Thankfully, the sun was out this trip and I was able to get some shots of her coming off Saginaw Bay at the Front Range. Photos taken 9/23/26

Saginaw River Passage - September 19, 2026: Saginaw - Part 2

Part 2 of this series takes us from Essexville, up to Bay City, and features Saginaw upbound on the Saginaw River at the site of the Lafayette Bridge reconstruction project.  The demolition of the old bridge was started in late 2025 and the new bridge construction is underway.  There was a steady rain falling when I took these shots.  Photos taken 9/19/26

Saginaw River Passage - September 19, 2026: Saginaw - Part 1

Here is part on of a three-part series that had me chasing Saginaw up the Saginaw River from Essexville to Zilwaukee.  Saginaw is shown here passing Smith Park in Essexville, through the Lake State Railway Bridge, and approaching Independence Bridge in Bay City.  This was the second visit in a row for Saginaw with salt from Goderich, ON destined for the Sargent Docks & Terminal.  This trip also marked the 100th vessel to visit the Saginaw River for the 2026 season.  Photos taken 9/19/26.

Saginaw River Passage - September 19, 2026: Tug Edward H.

The tug Edward H. arrived on the Saginaw River on September 18th, tying up at the Port Fisher Terminals Dock in Bay City.  She arrived to pick up the Dean Marine & Excavating dredging equipment that used this summer dredging the entrance channel between the Front Range and the Confined Disposal Island.  These photos were taken on September 19th as Saginaw was passing by upbound.
