The
Saginaw River saw 20 commercial vessel passages during the month of October,
with 10 different docks receiving a total of 27 product deliveries, accounting
for split cargo loads delivered to more than one dock. These passages represent 3 fewer passages
than recorded during October 2025.
Looking at long-term averages, the 20 passages in October are less than the
5-year average at 21, tied with the 10-year average at 20, and more than the 15-year
average at 19 passages, and the 20-year average at 19 commercial vessel
passages during the month of October.
There was one outbound gypsum cargo from the Sargent Docks &
Terminal.
The total number of commercial vessel passages for the year-to-date is 127, which is 34 fewer than last year at this time. Looking at the averages, the 127 passages for the year to date are less than all the long-terms, with the 5-year average being 147, 10-year average at 143, the 15-year average at 130, and the 20-year average at 136 vessel passages for the year to date as of the end of October.
During the month of October, there were 18 deliveries to the docks on the lower half of the Saginaw River, located in Essexville and Bay City, and 9 deliveries to upper river docks, located in Zilwaukee, Carrollton, and Saginaw. 7 vessels carried split loads with cargo unloaded at more than one dock. For the year-to-date, there have been 112 lower river deliveries and 69 upper river deliveries, with 51 split loads. This is a total of 181 dock deliveries for the year to date.
