Saginaw River Passage - April 30, 2024: Manitowoc

Manitowoc was the first of three vessels to arrive on the Saginaw River Tuesday morning, dropping a partial cargo at the Port Fisher/Bay Aggregates Dock, before heading upriver to finish unloading at the ACE/Saginaw Paving - Crow Island dock. Manitowoc turned in the Sixth Street Turning Basin and was outbound for the lake early Tuesday evening. While unloading at Bay Aggregates, Manitowoc's fleet mate and near twin, Robert S. Pierson came by, on the way to the Wirt Stone Dock in Saginaw.

Saginaw River Passage - April 26, 2024: Defiance/Ashtabula

A tale of two days... Defiance/Ashtabula have made consecutive trips to the Saginaw River, unloading at the Port Fisher/Bay Aggregates Dock in Bay City on April 24th and 26th. Cold and windy on the 24th, but sunny and mild on the 26th!

Saginaw River Passage - April 24, 2024: Sam Laud & Defiance/Ashtabula

On a winter-like late April morning, with NE winds sustained at 25mph, gusting to 38mph, and an air temp of 35 degrees, Sam Laud made her way down the Saginaw River after unloading overnight in Saginaw. She exchanged salutes with her fleetmate, Defiance/Ashtabula at the Port Fisher/Bay Aggregates Dock, making the turn in Essexville and heading for the lake.

The other day, someone suggested that I shoot photos with the USS Edson in the background... I can do that.

Sam Laud inbound on the Saginaw River, passing by Uptown at River's Edge. She had dropped a partial load at the Wirt Stone dock in Bay City overnight, then waited for Herbert C. Jackson to clear outbound, before heading to the upper river to finish unloading at the Wirt Stone Dock in Saginaw.

Saginaw River Passage - April 20, 2024: Herbert C. Jackson

Herbert C. Jackson inbound on the Saginaw River, delivering a split cargo to the Wirt Stone Docks in Bay City and Saginaw. This was the first visit of the 2024 season by the Jackson. She had finished unloading and was outbound the next morning, passing Sam Laud at the Wirt Dock in Bay City.
