There
were a total of 25 commercial vessel passages on the Saginaw River for the
month of May 2024, with 12 different docks receiving 38 separate deliveries of
product, accounting for split cargos delivered to more than one dock. This represents the same number of passages
compared to May 2023, and is an increase as compared to the 5-year average of
24 passages in May, the 10-year average of 19, the 15-year average of 18, and the
20-year average, which is 22 vessel passages for the month of May.
For the total number of commercial vessel passages for the year-to-date, there have been 41. This is four more passages than last year at this point. Looking at the averages, the 41 passages for the year to date is more than than each of them, with the 5-year average at 37 passages, 10-year average at 29 passages, the 15-year average at 27, and the 20-year average at 34 vessel passages.
During the month of May, there were 20 deliveries to the docks on the lower half of the Saginaw River and 18 deliveries to upper river docks. Eleven vessels carried split loads with cargo unloaded at more than one dock.
