Saginaw River Passage - September 5, 2024: John J. Boland & Sam Laud

John J. Boland arrived on the Saginaw River with a cargo destined for the Port Fisher slip and Bay Aggregates, but had to tie up at the Port Fisher Terminals Dock to wait for Samuel de Champlain/Innovation to finish unloading and depart from the Holcim Cement Dock, across the river from the slip to make room for the turn. Once SDC/Innovation were clear, Boland began backing down the Saginaw River, making it almost to the slip, before stopping, then heading back to the Terminals Dock and tying back up where she had just departed. Once tied back up, her fleet mate, Sam Laud passed down bound on her way to the lake. John J. Boland waited there until early evening when the tug North Dakota arrived to assist them down and into the slip. Photos of that move are still to come later.
