After waiting at anchor on Saginaw Bay for Samuel de Champlain/Innovation to depart the Saginaw River, Algoma Intrepid finally made her way into the river early Tuesday morning, assisted by the tug North Dakota. She tied up at the Wirt Sand & Stone Fertilizer Dock in Essexville to unload overnight. These photos were taken 12/23/25 during a period of freezing rain. Saginaw River Passage - December 20, 2025: Samuel de Champlain/Innovation
Samuel de Champlain/Innovation arrived on the Saginaw River early Saturday morning, making the dock at Amrize Cement in Essexville to unload. She was assisted by the tug North Dakota, who only hours before had assisted Alpena from the same dock after unloading there. North Dakota has been busy on the Saginaw River the past few weeks, with two more boats still scheduled to arrive in the next few days. Photos taken 12/20/25.
