The Walter J. McCarthy, Jr. arrived on the Saginaw Bay late Sunday night, with a load of coal for the Consumer Energy dock in Essexville. Strong winds and low water levels forced the McCarthy to stay out in the Bay overnight, through the day on Monday, and into the evening hours. Water levels were at one point -24.88 inches below datum, but have now came back up to -6.9 inches at the time of this posting. Wind speeds on the bay are currently NNW at 18.1 knots.
