There
were a total of 18 commercial vessel passages on the Saginaw River for the
month of December 2022, with 10 different docks receiving 22 separate deliveries
of product, accounting for split cargos delivered to multiple docks. This is the most deliveries for the month of
December since 2006, when there were 27 deliveries made to the Saginaw
River. December 2022 had 11 more vessel passages
than in December 2021, and the number is higher than the 5-year average of 11, the
10-year average of 9 and the 15-year average for December also at 9 passages.
For the total number of commercial vessel passages for the year-to-date, the number is 191. This number represents an increase of 31 passages based on the total from last year at this point, and the most since 2020 when there were 202 passages. Looking at the long term averages, it is also an increase compared to the 5-year average of 175 passages, 10-year average of 150 passages, and the 15-year average of 153 passages.
There was also a vessel passage on January 2, 2023, a split cargo delivered by the Dorothy Ann/Pathfinder to the Wirt Docks in Bay City and Saginaw, for a grand total of 192 for the season, unless anything else is coming this way……
