The Great Lakes Towing Company tug, Donald J. Sarter, arrived on the Saginaw River late Tuesday night, traveling up to the old Lafarge Cement Dock in Carrollton where her fleet mate, North Dakota, resides. Her crew began prepping North Dakota for a tow back to the Great Lakes Towing facility in Cleveland, OH for some work and TLC. Understandable for a tug 116 years old. It is sounding like once the work is complete on North Dakota, she will return to the Saginaw River to resume her duties, but until then, no tug will be stationed here. Photos taken 8/19/26
