The tug Edward H. and the Tug Megan J., along with the dredge Louise all left the Saginaw River yesterday, departing after completing a dredging contract for the Saginaw River Entrance Channel this summer. Arriving on July 16th, the crew dredged from the Confined Disposal Island, inbound to the Front Range, over 7,000 feet of shipping channel. What was interesting for this project was that due to the close proximity of the CDF, instead of loading the spoils into a mud scow like we normally see on the Saginaw River, they were pumped from the suction dredge, directly to the CDF island by dredge pipe.
