Saginaw River Passages - September 17th & 18th
After a week with no traffic on the Saginaw River, Friday saw the arrival of three vessels. Walter J. McCarthy, Jr. was the first to arrive, early Friday morning and calling on the Consumers Energy dock in Essexville. She completed her unload by late morning, backed from the dock, and turned near Light 12 to head for the lake. Maumee and Calumet also arrived on the river during the day Friday. Maumee traveled up to the Saginaw area to unload. It is not known at this time what dock she called on. Calumet lightered at the Lafarge Stone dock in Essexville, before continuing upriver to finish unloading at the Lafarge Stone dock in Saginaw. Both vessels were outbound for the lake Saturday morning.
