Saginaw River Passage - April 7, 2025: Samuel de Champlain/Innovation

The second vessel passage of the season for the Saginaw River was the same as the first, with Samuel de Champlain/Innovation arriving around 3:30am Monday morning to unload at the Holcim Cement dock in Essexville. Instead of going down to catch them coming in this time, I waited until sunrise to go down the the river, and was rewarded with these shots.
Sam Laud is currently anchored out in Saginaw Bay. I am making the educated guess their cargo is for the Port Fisher/Bay Aggregates dock, so they are waiting for Samuel de Champlain/Innovation to depart Holcim, clearing the area in front of the slip, making it safe for them to make the swing and go into the slip to unload.

Saginaw River Report - March 2025

There was only one commercial vessel passage on the Saginaw River for the month of March 2025, starting the 2025 shipping season on the 21st.  It was tug Samuel de Champlain and the cement barge Innovation calling on the Holcim Cement Dock in Essexville that got things started 3 days earlier than last year with this first delivery.

For the total number of commercial vessel passages for the year-to-date, the number is again one.  This is one less than 2024 at this point, when we had two deliveries in March.
