Sam Laud upbound on the Saginaw River, passing through what used to be Lafayette Bridge in Bay City, to unload at the Wirt Stone dock in Saginaw. Lafayette Bridge is undergoing a multi-year project in which the old structure, built in 1938 is being completely removed and a new bridge built in its place. Cofferdams have been constructed around the old concrete support piers to facilitate removal of the old structures, including the original wooden timbers. The projected completion date is June 2, 2027. Photos taken on April 10, 2025
