Algoma Compass on the Saginaw River, arriving Thursday morning with a split load for the Wirt Sand & Stone Dock in Essexville and the Wirt Stone Dock in Saginaw. She was outbound Friday morning after finishing her unload. Algoma Compass has always been a favorite of mine, dating back to when she sailed for the American Steamship Company as Adam E. Cornelius. I am not sure exactly why, but I like her lines, and those two oversize stacks are pretty unique. I missed her first visit of the season to the Saginaw River earlier this year, so I wanted to get photos of her in a few different locations this trip. This will be Part 1, On Saginaw Bay and entering the Saginaw River. Photos taken 10/2/25
