Algoma Compass traveled up the Saginaw River on Monday, delivering a split cargo to the Wirt Sand & Stone Dock in Essexville and the Burroughs North/1st Street Dock in Saginaw. She turned in the Sixth Street Basin and was outbound for the lake Monday evening. This first set of photos shows Algoma Compass passing the USS Edson in Bay City at Independence Bridge. There was an added bonus of "sea smoke" on the Saginaw River at this time. Photos taken 6/15/26
I have a ton of photos to go through and post from Monday. I was able to follow Algoma Compass up through all three operating Bay City Drawbridges photographing at each location. I was also able to get shots of the "triple" last night, with Algoma Compass passing Defiance/Ashtabula unloading at Bay Aggregates and Samuel de Champlain/Innovation across the river unloading at Amrize Cement. I also captured Samuel de Champlain turning in the Essexville basin at sunset. All of these photos will be posted over the next few days.
