Saginaw River Passages - May 3rd & 4th

There were a number of vessel passages on the Saginaw River Tuesday.  Laura L. VanEnkevort/Joseph H. Thompson were inbound early in the morning, calling on the GM Dock in Saginaw to unload.  The pair were followed a few hours later by Olive L. Moore/Menominee who stopped at the Burroughs/Levy Dock in Zilwuakee, then traveled up to the Saginaw Rock Products/Burroughs Saginaw Dock to finish unloading.  Saginaw was inbound on her namesake river Tuesday afternoon, bringing in a split cargo for the Port Fisher/Bay Aggregates Dock in Bay City and the GM Dock in Saginaw.  The U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Hollyhock arrived on Saginaw Bay Tuesday morning and began working aids to navigation in the Saginaw River Entrance channel.

Saginaw River Report - April 2022

There were a total of 12 commercial vessel passages on the Saginaw River for the month of April 2022, with 12 different docks receiving 16 separate deliveries of product, accounting for split cargos delivered to multiple docks.  This represents two more passages than in April 2021, and is greater than all of the long term averages with the 5-year average of 9 passages, the 10-year average of 7, and the 15-year average of 8 passages.

For the total number of commercial vessel passages for the year-to-date, the number is again 12.  This number represents an increase of two passages based on the total from last year at this point.  Looking at the averages, it is again an increase compared to the 5-year average of 10 passages, 10-year average of 7 passages, and the 15-year average of 9 passages.
