There were a total of 21 commercial vessel passages on the Saginaw River during the month of November 2025, with 11 different docks receiving 35 separate deliveries of product. This accounts for split cargo loads, delivered by one vessel to more than one dock during a visit. These 21 vessel passages represent six fewer than recorded during November 2024. Looking at long-term averages, November 2025 was tied with the 5-year average at 21 passages, and higher than the 10-year average at 18 passages, the 15-year average at 17 passages, and the 20-year average at 19 commercial vessel passages for the month of November.
The total number of commercial vessel passages for the year-to-date is now 182, which is seven fewer passages than last year at this point. Looking at the averages, the 182 passages for the year to date are higher than all the long-terms with the 5-year average being 171, the 10-year average at 158, the 15-year average at 147, and the 20-year average at 160 vessel passages through the end of November.
During the month of November, there were 17 deliveries to the docks on the lower half of the Saginaw River, located in Essexville and Bay City, and 18 deliveries to upper river docks, located in Zilwaukee, Carrollton, and Saginaw. Ten vessels carried split loads with cargo unloaded at more than one dock. For the year-to-date, there have been 144 lower river deliveries and 118 upper river deliveries, with 74 split loads.
Vessels making deliveries to the Saginaw River in November were Olive L. Moore/Menominee (4), Dorothy Ann/Pathfinder, Algoma Compass (3), G.L. Ostrander/Integrity, Undaunted/Pere Marquette 41 (2), and with one visit each, Northern Venture, Algoma Innovator, Algoma Buffalo, American Marnier, Sharon M I/Huron Spirit, Alpena, and American Courage.
